Mai 12 is a diy noise project, started in October 2017 in Thessaloniki (GR), where the first album, "Asaotpu", was created; in a vast urban landscape, in a big city.

A few days later, a relocation to Nisyros took place. A tiny volcanic island in southeast Aegean sea (GR). We chose to live in the most remote village, Nikiá, a breath away from the crater of the volcano.

In the absence of crowds, the total silence of a population of ~20, was in absolute contrast with anything related to noise. we could not have foreseen that silence can in fact generate waves and waves of noise. then "Asaotpu" was finally released.

The relocation however brought also a different perspective and had a profound effect to the process of creating our noise, this time based on heavily processed field recordings, captured on the island.

From 2017 to 2019, 22 albums were released, mainly self releases, digital and physical, along with a handful of ep's and even more splits/collaborations plus contributions to compilations. We call our noise volcanic, as it couldn't have been the same without all the island references and inspirations. Mai 12 wouldn't be the same without Nisyros.

In October of 2019, the circle of Nisyros came to an end with a new relocation, this time 700km northwest, in Florina (GR), a small town covered in snow, up the mountains. A known habitat, a known land that will house our venturing into this noise realization.
